Amazon Tablet to Launch in October – Rumour

A report today from Digitimes is hinting that Amazon could be launching one of its tablets sometime in October this year. At the moment it is believed that two Amazon Tablets will launch with one having a 7 inch screen and the other having a 10.1 inch screen. The 7 inch tablet is the one that is rumoured to be arriving in October with the 10.1 inch model launching early next year.

"Mass production of Amazon's 10.1-inch tablet PC reportedly will be conducted in the first quarter of 2012 with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) to handle the orders, according to sources from upstream component suppliers."

The quote above from Digitimes covers the launch of the 10.1 inch model. Later on we also read that shipping of the 7 inch model will begin in October which hints that this model will follow shortly after.
The Amazon Tablet could be a huge success for Amazon due to the amount of customers they serve. The Kindle has sold extremely well since launch and if Amazon could replicate that success with a Tablet then the Apple iPad could have a major competitor.
